Introducing our new glass platen for your Revolution 2x72 belt grinder, designed to provide a perfectly smooth, flat, and parallel grinding surface that may keep you from ever going back to a steel backer. Why’s that?

Here are some benefits of grinding on a glass platen:

1. Durability: Glass platens made with toughened glass, like ROBAX, are highly resistant to wear and tear and can withstand the heat generated by even the most intense grinding sessions.
2. Consistent results: The precision-machined surface of a glass platen ensures consistent results every time, making it easier to achieve the desired grind angle and finish on your knives.
3. Flat and smooth surface: A glass platen provides a flat and smooth surface that allows for more precise grinding and better control over the piece you’re working on.

ROBAX glass is a high-quality borosilicate glass that is known for its exceptional clarity and durability. This type of glass is commonly used in fireplaces, stoves, and other high-heat applications due to its excellent resistance to thermal shock. Our platen is made from 1/4" thick ROBAX glass, ensuring that it can withstand your most ambitiously intense projects without breakage, at temps up to 1400°F. We use high thermal resistance adhesive instead of double-sided tape for better overall adhesion and reliability.
